Power surges are sneaky. The lights come back on, the router reboots, and everything seems fine - until you realize your heat pump stopped doing its job. That's exactly what happened here. The Lennox heat pump outside was in good shape, but the Emme zoning system controlling it had taken a hit and the whole setup went down with it.

Here's why that matters. A zoning system like Emme is the brain of the operation. It manages which rooms get conditioned air and when, based on readings from individual zone sensors placed throughout the home. Without it communicating properly, the heat pump has no direction. The home had multiple zone sensors that all needed to be verified and re-synced before anything would work right again.

We went through the system - the Lennox air handler, the Emme zoning controller with its wiring panel, and the wall-mounted Emme touchscreen. Once we got everything talking again, the Emme panel booted back up and the system came back online. Zone sensors back in range, heat pump back in operation.

If your system is acting strange after a storm or outage - short-cycling, not heating or cooling certain rooms, or just not responding the way it should - that's worth paying attention to. Zoning systems in particular can get knocked out of sync without showing any obvious signs of damage. It doesn't always mean something is broken beyond repair. Sometimes it just needs someone who knows the system to get it sorted out.
