Remodels are a perfect opportunity to get your HVAC system right. When walls are open and ceilings are exposed, it's the ideal time to address anything that wouldn't work properly once the space is closed back up. That's exactly what Josh was doing here.
The job involved replacing a bladder on an Emme zoning system and modifying the existing ductwork to match the new layout of the space. Zoning systems are great - they let you control temperatures in different areas of your home independently. But they only work well when they're set up correctly for the space they're serving. If a remodel changes how a room is laid out and nobody touches the HVAC side of things, you'll end up with comfort problems that are a lot harder to fix after the drywall goes back up.
That's the thing most people don't think about during a remodel. The general contractor is focused on framing, finishes, and timelines. The HVAC system is easy to overlook until something feels off - a room that won't cool down, uneven temperatures, or a zone that just doesn't respond right. Catching it while everything is still accessible saves a lot of headaches.
We work alongside remodeling crews regularly. Getting us involved while the space is still open means we can make the right modifications, replace components that need attention, and make sure the system is dialed in before everything gets buttoned up. The comfort you feel after the remodel is finished often comes down to decisions made when nobody could see the work being done.
