This was a thorough one. Two Goodman AC systems, both with zoning - and we touched every part of both. Outdoor units, indoor air handlers, wiring, ductwork, zone control boards. Nothing got skipped.

When a system has zoning, there's more to check than a standard single-thermostat setup. Zone dampers, control panels, and the wiring connecting it all have to be working in sync. If one piece is off, you end up with rooms that are too hot, too cold, or comfort that just feels inconsistent no matter what you set the thermostat to. We inspect all of it during a maintenance visit - not just the obvious stuff.

The outdoor units got opened up and inspected top to bottom. Fan blades, coil condition, electrical connections, refrigerant pressures - all checked and documented. Clean coils and a properly spinning fan blade matter more than most people realize. A dirty or restricted outdoor unit works harder than it needs to, and that extra strain adds up over time in the form of higher energy bills and a shorter equipment lifespan.

Inside, we went through the air handlers and the zone control components as well. The indoor side is where a lot of issues quietly develop - drain lines, blower wheels, coil surfaces, and all the wiring that ties into the zoning system. Catching a small problem during a routine HVAC maintenance visit is a whole lot less painful than dealing with a breakdown mid-summer.

Regular maintenance is just smart ownership. These systems had clearly been cared for, and it shows in how they're running. A little attention now goes a long way toward keeping things reliable when you actually need them.
